Rostelecom unaware of talks to use OS Avrora on Huawei devices
MOSCOW, Jun 11 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom is unaware of a proposal to offer its mobile operating system Avrora, earlier known as Sailfish, on Huawei devices, but the operator is glad to cooperate with producers of any solutions, a Rostelecom spokesperson told PRIME late Monday.
Media reported earlier, citing sources, that Digital Development Minister Konstantin Noskov had discussed with Deputy Chairman of Huawei’s board of directors Guo Ping a possible transfer of the Chinese giant’s devices to Avrora. Devices with the already pre-installed Russian operating system are already being tested, media said.
“We have not heard of such suggestions, but we’d be happy to cooperate with producers of any solutions,” the spokesperson for Rostelecom said.
A ministry spokesperson said the authority constantly works on promotion of Russian producers on foreign markets.
